Private, secure, brandable, & budgetable—too much to ask?
For course creators, we knew right away that YouTube wasn’t up to snuff. They needed control over every aspect—from security against downloads to an ad-free, brand-free environment.
So, we tried Vimeo. At first, we were stoked. Until…we weren’t. Like you, we noticed that Vimeo started changing. Increasing complexity, hidden bandwidth charges (we won’t say intentionally, but it didn’t feel great).
Wistia seemed pretty good on the course features, but plans starting at $100/mo wasn’t exactly a scalable price for those just launching.
And there was still the gaping security problem. No other hosts used HLS encryption.
Even with the password protection, people could still download any video they wanted with as few as two clicks.
This seemed like a problem we could tackle head on.
